'Maximum height reached' query

Hi, this is my first post here. I'm just wondering if anyone can clear up a mystery for me. The other day I was in a city in France, and I went to a little park in the city centre and launched my Mavic Pro. I wasn't intending flying over buildings or anything - all I wanted to do was to get the Mavic up to a couple of hundred feet, do a few panoramic shots then bring it straight down again. I got a warning of magnetic interference, and was instructed to calibrate the compass, so I went to a different bit of the park, and then the compass successfully calibrated itself.

However, when I launched it, it only got to about 15 feet, then I heard, "Maximum altitude reached". So I was wondering why this happened. Was it because I was in a no-fly zone? In the past, I've inadvertently been in a no-fly zone, but then the controller display showed 'NFZ', which it didn't this time. Is there any other reason my Mavic could have just stuck at 15 feet or so?

Also Tony, if you had weak or no GPS, this comes into play....

Height is restricted to 26 feet (8 meters) when the GPS signal is weak and Vision Positioning is activated.
Height is restricted to 98 feet (30 meters) when the GPS signal is weak and Vision Positioning is inactivated.

DJI's warning message is badly worded.
It says Move aircraft or calibrate compass.
But the correct action is almost always to move away from the steel that the compass is warning you about.
Calibrating the compass will never fix that.

Post #3 is most likely the answer for your other problem.

Got it wrong again.... ?think I’ll keep me trap shut from now on.

I’ll delete my post, sorry @Tony2019

But welcome to the forum?

Its not wrong info, its info, that operators need to have explained, over and over, until we dont get questions like this.
When we get no more questions, everyone knows it all.
Our job is then done and we can rest.

Had this a few times myself, and each time it's been down to a poor GPS signal (based on the flight mode DJI Go has said it's in), especially when I've been in a hurry to get airborne and haven't waited for a full-GPS lock. Usually it will resolve itself fairly quickly without having to land if you can position the drone somewhere where it can get good visibility of the sky and pick up a few more satellites.

Moving away from any steelwork, concrete (because of the rebar in it), and any radio/magnetic sources will also speed up the acquisition of a reliable signal and removal of the max ceiling restriction.

Got to agree with that Simmo.

At least you guys answer people regardless of how many times the same question pops up, you don't give the can’t you use search, that's all you get on some forums.

Being new to DJI I have had some very good answers to my nooby questions regardless of how often they have came up in the past.

Keep up the good work people you are stars in my book ?
