Just thinking about the fly always that are not really gone, difficult to find. Just wondering if using a Tile for pinging would be a good idea, especially for the new fliers.

Thought of this when watching a range test for the MM where it was landed due to zero battery and was somewhat difficult to find.

Thoughts?.

“Fly away” is when the drone just decides to book it without warning, at no fault of the pilot, never to be seen or heard from again. It implies a manufacturer or software issue.

Auto-landing due to low battery is a designed and useful function. If this happens in an undesirable location it qualifies as a “crash” which implies, rightfully so in this case, that it is due to pilot error.

If you are thinking about the brand name Tile tracking device it won’t be much help because it works on Blutooth which has a range of around 30 ft. It will however, help you once you get within this distance.

I use a Marco Polo in some areas... reasonable range and guides right to the drone. Not dependent on any other device or satellite. Works for 30 days on a full charge. Works for pets too. A little pricey at $234.95 USD, but mine paid for itself.

A good bright strobe like the Firehouse Arc-II's can help to locate a lost drone at times. Nothing like a real tracker but a cheap bit of insurance. They flash for several hours giving you time to hopefully track it down. Found a friends Spark when he crashed it into a pine tree. Without that thing flashing, we would have never found it.

I completely misunderstood the OP. I thought you were trying to come up for a better term than “fly away” in these situations. Must have brought my own thinking into it when I read it
