I had a Mini 3 Pro for which I had purchased extra standard (not plus) batteries and a charger. I have issues with the Pro, so I purchased a Mini 3 (not Pro) on the assumption that I could use the batteries with it as well. It turns out that the batteries I purchased, which are genuine DJI units, work for a Mini 4 Pro or a Mini 3 Pro, but NOT a Mini 3. When I attempt to use them in the drone it throws an error and, even though the drone powers up fine, it will not take off.

I have been looking for batteries to purchase, but I'm not having much luck. I'm seeing some third-party batteries but not much in the way of genuine DJI. Is there anywhere that I can pick up a battery or two at this time? Any experience with aftermarket batteries?

I have had good luck with Batteries from Ebay JUST SHOP CAREFULLY! I looked around and man If I were you I would save every bad battery for its shell! There are people online that will build you new ones.....
Aftermarket is a Gamble they may work fine until a firmware update locks them out.

I have a Mini 3 (not pro) and purchased a Kuwata battery on Amazon that fits and works perfectly. It is of higher capacity than the standard battery too 3850mAh. Kuwata model BT-MN3.
