Mini 3 pro D-CINI

I'm trying out D-Cini files on my M3P. After copying them to my MacBook Pro, Quicktime was unable to open the files but they would import and open in Final Cut Pro X just fine. The D-cini files from my Action 3 will open in Quicktime with no problem. I find this odd.
