When I use a USB cable to connect my drone to my Windows PC it seems to briefly connect then it reconnects briefly and disconnects. It keeps connecting and disconnecting until I pull the USB cable from the drone. When I try to Eject the Media it says "Problem Ejecting USB Composite Device".

This same thing happens both with and without the SD card inserted.

1. I have four data cables that I have verified to work properly.
2. I have tried connecting via both the USB-A and USB-C ports on my computer.
3. Both ports on my computer can be used with a card reader to view and move files on the SD card.
4. When I go to DEVICES on my PC, the Mini 4 Pro appears but when it disconnects it says there is a Driver Error.
5. My USB drivers on my PC appear to be up to date.
6. My aircraft firmware is version 01.00.0700. There is a newer version of firmware (01.00.0800) available but I have seen people advising not to upload it yet. And this problem has been happening over multiple earlier firmware versions.
7. I am unable to connect the aircraft to my PC via DJI Assistant 2. Same issue, it seems to connect and disconnect.

PLEASE HELP! TIA!

Well, you've done a pretty comprehensive effort at identifying the problem. All I can offer is a sympathetic "me, too" and the obvious work-around solution.

When I got the Mini 4 Pro about a year ago, I was unable to read the SD card in the drone while it was connected via USB. I don' recall the details, they were different from what you're seeing. But I usually had to reboot the computer to regain use of the port.

With all my drones, I've typically removed the card from the drone and used a card reader. I was tinkering with reading cards in the drone because the Mini 4 Pro was supposed to allow that with the power off. I just quit tinkering and resumed pulling the card. I've not tried using DJI Assistant 2 with the Mini 4 Pro.

Yeah, I have been doing the SD Card jockeying and it really isn't awful but sometimes it would be nice to direct connect. The other thing is that I sometimes forget to put the card back in the drone. If it is a bad usb socket, I am not so sure it would be worth paying to have it fixed. I have tried addressing this several times and I guess I am about to throw up the white flag again. Was really hoping that someone had a solution.

I'm sure it wasn't just a bad USB port when I had the problem. I tried several with the Mini 4 Pro and had the same issue, but never had any other problems with the ports.

I keep an SD card in the RC controller as a backup for those times when I forget to replace the one I took out to copy files.

Thanks. I don’t think it is a socket issue on the drone anymore because it is doing the same thing when I try to connect my controller to my PC. Appears to be some sort of driver issue and I have no idea how to address it.

I do have an sd card in my controller- not exactly sure why but I will keep that in mind if I forget to reinsert the drone card.

There is a program called Driver Easy located at www.drivereasy.com. Download and install the trial version. I don't remember how the trial version works but at the very least it will identify all drivers that are out of date which may help your situation. You'd be surprised at many drivers this program will identify.

I have read the timing of when you connect the drone can be an issue. With assistant 2 you have to connect the drone when it starts to beep when you turn it on. If you do not time this exactly the drone cannot be recognised.

I will try that but the drone is supposed to be powered off when you connect it to the pc. I have tried connecting with the drone powered on but that doesn’t work either. I will try the timing thing but I have my doubts that it will work.

With the drone powered off, it does briefly connect to the pc but then disconnects and then reconnects and keeps cycling like that until I disconnect it.

Not sure on drones but on a pc I’d be thinking it can’t supply enough power to run the device; it starts to connect then shuts the port down as too much current is pulled. A while back you could purchase cables with 2 USB-A plugs at one end to prevent this problem - mainly for portable scanners I think - not sure if this applies to USB-C connectors though as they can supply much more power….

I had the same problem with a Hewlett Packard desktop. I solved it by installing a USB 3.0 expansion card which gave me 4 additional USB connections ( 2 ea A and C). When I upgraded to a Dell, the problem disappeared. It also was not present when I plugged my Mavic 2 Zoom into my wife's laptop, also an HP but newer.

This is the expansion card I bought at Amazon.

I’m on a Mac so this might not be relevant but I can only connect mine to my computer using a Type C to Type C USB cable. The Mac doesn’t see it when plugged into a Type A port.
