I imported my Mini 5 Pro legally from Canada yesterday and charged everything overnight. I registered the drone, updated the firmware on controller and drone, updated the fly safe database and calibrated the compass and IMU without any issue an hour ago. I was surprised the firmware updates were as big as they were. Everything else in terms of flying it were very similar to my Mini 4 Pro (currently on eBay).

I then took it out for a short flight. Startup (by unfolding the legs) was faster than the Mini 4 Pro and satellite acquisition was equally fast. It seemed to fly faster in normal mode than the Mini 4 Pro. The extra zoon is very nice! RTH was spot on, and everything was very stable. Interestingly, in a 15-minute flight less than 2 miles away, I was told 2x that connection between the controller and drone was unstable and that I should face the drone. I have never had that happen in my Mini 4 Pro. The message went away quickly, and I saw no video interference or control issues.

Overall, it finally gets me what I want - a small <249g drone with a 1"sensor, nice zoom, a great lens, all the automatic fly modes I want, fast time-to-launch and outstanding day and night obstacle avoidance. I will look at my video and pictures next. I was always pleased with my Mini 4 Pro and expect I will be equally happy with the new shots.Thumbswayup:)

Just wondered why you overwrote the factory calibrations? DJI don’t recommend this and if it’s not showing errors asking for calibration and the compass is correct I don’t calibrate. Maybe 3 times in the last 6 years of flying drones.

I flew it completely stock except for changing obstacle avoidance to bypass and validating RTH settings. It was a calm day, and I flew it in an area I have flown dozens and dozens of times with 7 previous drones. I don't have data to quantify my impressions, but it just seemed zippier.

You said you calibrated the compass and IMU. They really don’t need calibrating unless they are showing errors and there is always the chance that your recalibration is worse than the factory calibration.
When I did my systems checks DJI Fly gave no indication that calibration was needed and it’s flown well.
I agree that the drone does seem faster as the specifications claim, it also seems more stable and more accurate than the Mini 4 Pro.

was there a shipping charge or Canadian sales tax in that $400 or was that just the tariff.
Also was that that the fly more plus or regular
It looks like you got a good deal
I just looked up two Canadian vendors , neither had the fly more plus but both had the fly more regular, neither said they could ship to my address, at first, then I checked again , i think it was a stock issue, but there was now also a $155 shipping charge. Along with listed a charge for tariff $630

It was just tarrif, US residents claim exemption for taxes. I got Fly More Plus. It was the least expensive way to get the extended batteries. I'll pick up standard batteries for when I need them. It's 320 grams with the bigger batteries.

I have the plus combo on the way. I would like to do the same with a standard battery. If you find a source please post. Thanks

Just saw video that about the weight of the Mini # battery, Mini 4 Battery and the Mini 5 battery.
The Mini 3 battery weighs 10 grams and the Mini 4 battery weighs 6.5 grams more than the Mini5 battery
So there no gain to using the old batteries if one needs to stay under 250g

As in, one cannot use the older Mini 3 and Mini 4 regular batteries to avoid RID. One can only use the new M5P regular batteries, eh?

If RID is turned by weight I guess not but if it is by what size or type of battery , do noy know, the video was not testing for that
