Just sharing what I’ve found. I’ve decided I’ll be waiting on this since I have some other reasons to wait as well.

My concerns as well.I live in Canada and have the Mavic 4 Pro and I' wondering if the new Mini 5 will be available in the USA? This tariff situation and USA security issues may drag on for a long time.
**** you @3rdof5I have the Mini 3 (non pro) and the mini 4 pro. The mini's are awesome little drones but will always be limited by their size. I honestly see no need for a mini 5, if you want improvements over the mini4 pro go bigger. My Mavic 3 is still my goto aircraft for serious longer range photography and always will be due to its superior stability in wind.
Most of us have....1 of each for the reasons you mentioned.**** you @3rdof5, I’ve spent days contemplating Mini or Mavic and thought I had decided.
Initially going to be a recreational pilot, will be getting part 107. No business thoughts and I’m not a creator. So for me would you still say a Mavic over a Mini 4 pro? If so why? Being new to droning I can only rely on information I find to make my decisions.
Thanks
Well I can only afford one right now so I have to choose. Most of us have....1 of each for the reasons you mentioned.![]()
Honestly the Mini 4 Pro is your best bet since we don't know when if ever we could see the Mini 5 Pro in the US. Even if we don't, it won't be *that* much better. If you only get one drone, as a recreational pilot it should probably be the <250g one.Well I can only afford one right now so I have to choose.
You can't go wrong with any Dji aircraft, I've owned many of all shapes and sizes and they were all trustworthy and reliable. You don't need a part 107 for a mini. But the minis, as tough as they are, simply can't compete with their big brothers. You'd think a smaller aircraft would be less affected by wind, but you'd be wrong. The big guys are tanks, the Phantoms and the Mavics will simply just go anywhere in any weather condition, they have longer flight times due to larger batteries, and are just more trustworthy in all conditions, IMO. Plus they usually have better cameras. The minis are fun, the big boys are for serious flying.**** you @3rdof5, I’ve spent days contemplating Mini or Mavic and thought I had decided.

To be very honest, as you can see in my signature, I have 2 minis, a Mavic 3 Classic and a NEO. After I bought the NEO I wondered why I even have any minis. The NEO is flyable with an RC or a phone or with nothing! Honestly it is the most most capable aircraft I own and is a blast to play with. It can take a selfie completely on its own, can follow me around, is under 250 grams and needs no license and is safe with it's built in prop guards. I recommend one for anyone. Then there is serious flying, long distance, high altitude, with a great camera, that requires a license and training but is worth it. Can fly in wind, for more than a few minutes. Get a Mavic. 3 or 4 depending on your budget. Get that and the NEO. That's my real recommendation. The minis are somewhere in between and really not needed in my lineup.Excellent points.
