Mini controller cable type

Hi

I have a mini and want to connect with an iPhone. I want a longer cable to connect to the controller as the supplied cable is a tad tight. My question is: what is the name of the socket at the controller end? Ive seen “micro USB”, “type c usb“ and OTG connector mentioned. Also, if any of you have one of these, I’d there a particular one you recommend or otherwise?

I used UGreen micro OTG adapter I bought from Amazon so I can use any data cable I want to connect to a device: micro, C or lightning.

In order for the RC to be able to connect to a mobile device, the RC port has to be in A mode. That's what the included short cables do, and also what OTG cables/adapters do not only for the RC, but also mobile devices.
A mobile device's USB port normally operates in B mode.

I'm using this 12" RCGEEK cable with my Apple devices:

I use this same cable, both with Iphone (nephews) and another for my Note 8. Braided cable and the right angle reduces tension and they are inexpensive.
