Mini Minus 17 F over Lake Superior

I guess you pushed it. Is that fog over the lake? I need to get up to north shore this year, its been too long and I know my mini 2 would love it there.

Yes it's water vapor aka sea smoke meaning the lake is getting very close to freezing. At least next week is supposed to in the teens! Ready for spring! My next target is the Split Rock Lighthouse from the overlook along the highway. As long as I launch from there and stay over the lake I won't be breaking any state park rules.

I was wondering about split rock, thats good to know for the future. How about flying over some of the rivers that flow into the lake along old hwy 61? There is some stunning scenery in your area.

Thought I'd push the temperature limit this morning! I had my Mini 2 hovering at 383 feet for just over 20 minutes and still had 33% on the battery when I landed. I think I suffered more than the drone!

Very nice. I live in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and fly regularly in temps in the teens. Never been airborne in temps below zero. At about 15 degrees I can get about a 12-15 minute flight.

Lovely!

There are several, the beaver river would be ideal. You can walk down to the mouth and send the drone upstream under the bridge. That's 3 miles from me.

I was near Loveland in the national park about 40 years ago. Beautiful! I decided not to risk the extreme cold anymore after reading about the effects it can have on the av and batteries. I think I got lucky.

I live right up the road from Loveland, in Estes Park, right at the entrance to the National Park. I could fly today because it's one of those rare days where there's no wind. It's 1 degree and light snow. But I think I'll stay inside and enjoy the warmth.

Good plan!

Nice - I just got my mini 2 and the weather here is topping out at around 0. The drone does very well - no significant battery drain noticed. My fingers however - holy crap. It just plain hurts to fly when this cold. I'd pay good money for a good solid week of 72 degrees, clear and no wind.
