Can a Mavic Mini fly in remote areas with little to no wifi?

I smell a misunderstanding here regarding your thinking around WiFi ...

No DJI drone rely on external WiFi networks or mobile data to fly, the WiFi connection/communication is purely between the drone & the remote & aren't relayed through the WWW. All other external WiFi networks are actually only a bad thing as they can interfere with the drone-remote communication ... so flying remotely far away from other WiFi networks are only a good thing in order to get a high quality connection between drone & remote..

The only thing you miss out by not having your mobile device online is map updating on the fly, instead you need to pre-cache them before you go ...

Thank you, I thought it used wifi to connect the drone to the controller.

It does, but only his "local" WiFi that only exists between the drone and remote.
