What about the Moment Mavic 2 Pro Anamorphic Lens, any experiences, opinions, anybody? A bit pricey, but good looking demo videos.

Seemed to be right on the edge of the weight limit the gimbal Z axis could handle, but footage looks cool.

Youve probably seen it but just in case, 'PotatoJet' (I think) on YT, has a video using it.

Causes gimbal motor overload on a regular basis, especially if you're flying quickly. I wouldn't want to imagine what this does to your gimbal motor over a long period of time.

Having said that, the footage does look mega cool. Although you'd hope so for that price!

Wouldn't invest unless I was a bona fied movie maker.

It says the lens is "Optimized to shoot in 4K HQ".

Now I'm wondering if anyone could tell the difference if I shoot FOV and crop in post the top and bottom to get that wide format.
What do guys think?
This lense creates a wider horizontal field of view, whilst keeping the original veritcle field of view. So it’s a little more than just chopping off the top and bottom bit.

however answering your question ‘would anyone notice’ if you just used FOV and cropped in post, I think only a professional videographer would notice.

I haven’t seen any comparison footage, that wasn’t directly from the moment company themselves (which I wouldn’t trust, to be a true comparison).

I see this as nice to have toy, If you’re rich, or are a professional drone video maker.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I bought one, and returned it without ever installing it. It is a complete undisclosed nightmare! In order to use it, you have to first boot up without it, then struggle with a live gimbal while you try to install it and its massive counterweight, after removing the stock UV filter. During flight, the gimbal is known to go limp, which can only be fixed by landing and starting all over. Once you land to change batteries, you must first remove the lens and counterweight, reboot without them, and reinstall the entire contraption all over again, EVERY SINGLE TIME! Moment assumes no responsibility for damage to your fragile gimbal during installation or removal. Their return policy is also so draconian that if it arrives on the 31st day after you first received it, they will not only not refund your money, they will keep it as an unsolicited gift, and refuse to return it! They also make sure this is highly likely to happen because when you request a refund, they won't reply for at least two business days. Then they want an online form filled out. Then you have to wait up to 3 more business days for a response. Then you have to wait 48 hours for a shipping label and you CANNOT use any other shipping label, or they won't accept it. It then takes another week for them to receive it because they send it back by pony express! They also will not acknowledge receipt when they get it. Follow up emails inquiring about the status of receipt will take 2 business days to receive a reply. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Unless you contact them to return it on the day you receive it, you will get stuck owning this POS! Lastly, unless you use PP or another hupigh end video editor to uncompress and stretch out the compressed field of view, the results are unusable!

Yeah, but it looks cooool though bro, haha.

ultimate style over substance.

It does, but their M2P implementation is horrid. Plan on sacrificing a few M2P gimbals, at $599 each, along the way to achieving the ultimate style!

Took my 2 Pro out with the Moment anamorphic lens and 64 ND filter on a sunny day (very little wind, 10 degrees F) after 12 inches of new snow the day before. Batteries fully charged before the flight. On the first flight, I experienced gimbal “droop” towards the end of the flight, with the battery around 30%. On my second flight, the gimbal drooped as soon as I got the drone to planned height, around 200 ft. I had to abandon the flight as I could not get it working.

As for the footage, everything I was hoping for, great. Now I have to improve on my technique!

PS: I sent feedback to Moment, including suggesting that they produce a video focused on this “droop” issue, and how to minimize the issue. Customers will find it so they are better off addressing it up front!

Moment claims that DJI approved this POS! I find that very hard to believe, since neither will guarantee the gimbal will not be damaged from repeated use! The fact that the gimbal flops during use is proof that the gimbal cannot handle the extra weight! I suggest filing for your refund before it is too late!

Reading the above, I'm feeling kind of duped with having purchased the lens. I've only flown once successfully (see brief video below). It is a pain to get the lens on correctly, and then the droop problem (is there Viagra for gimbals?). Beyond that, I've had a problem come up that I can't figure out. This may sound weird, but when I put the Moment lens on (following all the instructions in the video) and go to calibrate the gimbal, the gimbal icon in the "General Settings" panel is ...gone! It does not show up! At first I thought I was going crazy. But, after several repetitions I realized that when I went to calibrate the gimbal with the drone's Hasselblad regular lens, the gimbal icon returns...it's there and I'm not crazy... and I can calibrate the gimbal with the regular lens. But when I then put the Moment lens on, the gimbal icon literally disappears in General Settings. I do get a gimbal overload warning when I have the Moment lens on. Maybe the drone is telling me that this monster of a lens/counter balance is too heavy! Any ideas? I have posted the question to Moment on their website and will let you know if they have any solution. Disappointing because I love the video I have seen made with the lens. It worked the first time I tried it but I didn't need to calibrate the gimbal...it was fine and didn't overload in this brief flight.

If you can still return it, do so! It's a completely flawed design, fraught with all sorts of problems. As to your question, it only makes sense that DJI won't let you calibrate the gimbal while it is overloaded. It would certainly damage the motors, trying to do the calibration, with obstructions causing the gimbal overload message. Enjoy the videos others have created with it, while destroying their gimbals, vicariously!

I had the same thing happen to me when I powered it off and back on with the lens still attached. It showed up when I started it up without the lens... then proceeded to turtle it and attached it. I cannot get the gimbal to auto-calibrate because it stops at 40 percent every time. I flew it with the lens and without calibrating it (with a normal gimbal notification) and flew fine for about 20 minutes without droop. I have a DJI Viagra 2 Pro Max version or something, ha! It is a new puppy though, only a few weeks old.
