Motors running hot

After getting the front motors tangled in some string & stalling, they now run hot to the touch. They otherwise run smoothly, however, is this indicative of damaged esc's & imminent failure ?
 
Don't know about the esc's but if you haven't already done so, get a magnifier and look closely at the base of the motor to ensure there isn't some string still wrapped in there. Spin the front props with your finger to verify that they turn as freely as the rear props. Heat usually indicates resistance.

I got hold of a Fluke IR gun & the actual temp measurements are in fact okay, around 39 - 40 Deg on all motors. I guess I kept longer contact time with my fingers on the front motors trying to 'feel' for higher temps, which created the sensation that they were a lot hotter than the rear motors - the base is around 49 - 50 Deg though...
