this is my 1st real attempt at a video of any quality and substance relating to my area ... I know I need to slow down my gimbal movement a bit ...really have no idea at what I was recording at other than whatever it is from a factory setting ..... any pointers would be helpful ... oh and I had a PolarPro ND/PL 4 filter on

Nice. How did you get so close without spooking it?

Not sure ,!! Lol ... went I spotted him I pulled off the side of the road , actually into my aunts dentist office .. about 50 ft away .. I launched , fly up over about a 30 ft pine and just hovered , because he spotted the drone and we just had a standoff for almost 5 minutes ... he started back to searching , so I put the drone on tripod mode and started creeping towards him ... I was taking a lot of pics and then decided to try the videoing ... the whole encounter lasted about 20 minutes ..... long enough that I ran the battery down to 20% and got my RTH warning .... was a pretty awesome experience ... I actually caught him catching another crawdad in my pic mode [emoji851]

Terrific. I loved watching how slowly it moved and how still it stood as it was hunting. A lake near my house is regularly visited by a Great Blue Heron and also a bald eagle. Right in the middle of Seattle. But we are not allowed to fly drones anywhere in the City (except at my own rather small lot).

You were almost being as stealthy as the Heron, trying to get close.

Yeah I found out that since there is federal protection on the bird ... there could be such terms as harassment involved ... unfortunately there was also some guy standing on the side of the road filming with his phone .... so needless to say video is short [emoji6]

Working both birds into one story. Citizens and Audobon worked really hard to protect a fairly large Blue Heron Rookery from surrounding development. Protected. A year later the Bald Eagles starting predating immature heron. The Audobon's went nuts - dilemna which birds to protect - which side to root for!!!!

Adult great blue heron often tussle with bald eagles with mixed results... natural enemies. They share common prey...
