Attempted to register my new Air3S (sourced from a Japanese retailer) on the FAA website as a recreational operat, but could not find it's RID serial #. The field for this information would not accept the aircraft's or RC2's serial #. -- kept saying it was invalid. No #s on the aircraft or inside the battery compartment. Is it possible that because this was produced for the Japanese market no RID module is in it?
I went back and selected the box that says it does NOT have RID and then it let me enter the manufacturer's and model names. It then added it to my account and I was able to proceed with paying for and being issued a registration #. How bad did I screw-up?

As far as I know, all Air 3S drones are the same. You cannot fly the Air3S in the US without RID and for this model, it is supposed to have standard RID since in genera, a recent heavy drone cannot ship to the US and force the flyer to rely on attaching a model to comply with the law. Therefore you must go back into the FAA portal and correct/edit/delete/update your entry for the Air 3S with the RID details which is probably the serial number of the drone, you can get that off the box; the RID# looks like this, the serial number range from the FAA RID DoC:

1581F895000000000000-1581F895ZZZZZZZZZZZZ

OP IIRC, while the drone and controller are powered on, go to the 3 dots for settings (Upper right), scroll down to About.
The Flight Controller number should start with 1581 as stated above. That is the serial number you want.

Tried that. There is a 20 character # for the drone and flight controller;(same #) and 14 character #s for the camera, battery, and RC (each different). The entry field on the FAAs site for this # keeps saying "INVALID NUMBER" when I input the first 16 characters of the drone's serial #. I've tried numerous times. It won't take it. When I delete my entry, the invalid message disappears until I try again.
Also states that a 'I' or 'O' can't be used...which I didn't.

Will log out and log back in to see if it will reconsider accepting my serial #.
On my Drone Zone page, I entered the 20 digits for the Flight Controller number and pressed validate. it accepted it.
Make sure you are correct with 0's and O's.

It should be 1581 and 16 more digits.

OK, here's what happened..... I logged out, then logged back in, and again, as soon as I would enter the first number the INVALID NUMBER message would appear and stay there UNTIL ALL 20 CHARACTERS WERE INPUT!!! I was then able to validate my aircraft's RID#.
Why would they set that up that way......jeeessssshhhhh. Our federal nerds at work. This is why I have ZERO confidence in A.I.
