Hi all, I just arrived in the forum after difficult introduction to drones when the ANAFI I bought 3weeks ago "Upgraded" to new firmware etc that resolutely refused to let the drone and controller communicate. I was able to return for a full refund, so decided to come over "To The Dark Side!"
Not wanting to repeat my experience, and waiting for the courier to deliver my mew Platinum, I decided to ask you guys what to do (and NOT TO DO) when setting up my kit for the 1st time.
Any advice is gratefully received, and I hope that this gives me my best start and reliability on this new kit.
Keerev.

I have a platinum as well and I always keep it the firmware updated. I never encounter any issue at all. The Mavic platinum is a solid rock machine. There are some owners that like to stay away from upgrading the firmware. It's up to you.

make sure before you do anything to fully charge the batteries in the UAV and the controller and have an good internet connection to the device you are using for thr go4 app follow the intructions on the screen and all should be well sequence connect controller to your device whether android or ios turn on controller and it will connect to device follow on screen instructions and then turn on the mavic make sure that you have removed the props and the gimbal guards before powering up the mav then if all is well it will update to latest firmwhare before you can fly you will need to register withDJI and you will be asked to complete a simple questionair on drone safety good luck

Many thanks "Old Man Mavic".
That sounds like good solid advice.

Many thanks macoman. In view of my previous experience with ANAFI, I think I should be cautious too. The advice on the forum, that, the update will contain everything previously issued, sounds logical, so assume that part will be safe anyway.

Thanks macoman. The MPP looks prety solid but its not been delivered yet, so I've not had it in hand to check yet. I think that I will wait to see what update is offered and, if possible, ask here for further info.

you will find that it will need updating when you first get it depends when it was made as there are updates that will not be in the memory till you turn it on only what was available at the time
