Refurb Air 2s or new Air 3s

Lots of good comments so far. They're all good in fact. Therefore, I'll take a different angle.
Do you need a telephoto lens or LIDAR for night flying for your 107 jobs?
If no, go Air 2S for the budget . If Yes, I suggest the Air 3S.
Thanks for the input. Most likely I won't be doing any major flying at night

And if you don't anticipate the need for a telephoto, you have your answer.

I don't have or ever owned either, but I fly with a guy who had 2S and now has 3S...In my opinion, his videos from
the 2S are better quality ...that is my opinion, and I wonder what others think....good luck with making the choice....have you started studying for 107 test?

No I have even looked into the testing yet. I also haven't found the deal I want yet. I thought I saw the fly more package available this morning when I asked, but it must have been a different model

Perhaps you should pass the 107 first and foremost and then look into which RPA you require to make a business out of it. Doesn't matter what you buy if you don't have the Part 107 certificate.

Although some have passed the test by just studying on their own, I think taking a course is a better way. I took the course offered by pilotinstitute....although I was a private pilot a long time ago, I don't think I would have passed the test without having taken the course....it was money well spent

If I plan on flying in private areas under 400 feet just as a hobby to start can't I work towards the 107?

There are no "private areas" except maybe a FRIA has some sort of defined boundaries but yes, as long as you only fly for fun (and don't do any commercial work) you are free to fly as a hobby anywhere it's permissible. However, just to be clear, you cannot fly your drone to do small jobs or practice jobs or free jobs while working your way towards the part 107. If you don't have a part 107, you are not allowed to fly a drone *anywhere* outdoors unless it's as a hobby for fun.
