Rest easy. I learned that lesson and was comforted to know the repair wasn't as expensive as it could have been and the company doing the repair did it promptly and efficiently.

Brother, just take it easy. I haven't even come close to the limits on either my Mini2 or my M2Z. I certainly wouldn't send mine out 6 miles, I have only had my M2Z out of sight once and I doubt I'll ever do it again. Every time I fly either of them I learn more and get more comfotable flying them. That is my suggestion, do it as you are comfortable....

Get a strobe. It's stupid easy to lose sight of these tiny aircraft.
With a strobe, your ability to re-acquire VLOS after looking at the screen is WAY better.

Received my Mini 2 and having a ball with it. However, as a person that generally likes to push the limits, my question is this: How far should I fly from home without risking losing control of the drone?
