Was flying mini mavic battery started going bad .return to home came on but I wanted to just land it right there held joystick down would not land why? Other wise it was buy a tree and was afraid to let it go up. I would think I could always land it. Any info thanks mike

No, I suppose I was to hit return button I was afraid that would just do the same I just held joy stick down.at least that kept it from going up but would not land.

Yes still flying. I was under a pine tree and also near water trying to record girlfriend fishing. But thanks to info here . I now realize as soon as I heard alarm for battery should of hit rth button.right away.but since I did not I just held left joystick down continuously. It kept spinning around and around but at least did not go up much higher than 4 ft and I was able to move directions and it finally landed

Should watch the battery level and have some spare time when you land. It’s also better for battery life. However If flying close at the end of a mission and the alarm goes off don’t panic. Just stop hover and make a plan to return. RTH is not always the best plan as the drone will climb and use battery. Take your time and make a plan to return and or land.
I once landed on 1% and the Ap had been screaming at me and warning it was about to launch RTH which I kept cancelling. The MP was only a few metres away and a few metres up. As I said bad for the battery life. Better to land with 10-20%. Enjoy flying P

I had just flew a few mins early battery was at about 25%. Did not realize battery would drop that fast.and that the rth would activate automatically. When battery went low.I have not been in and open environment to use rth option. I just forgot that I could just touch rth button to hopefully stop it.and not hold it to enable
