Mate, have a look at the reviews on the dji go app for androids, hundreds of complaints about compatibility issues.

That is simply a reflection of the number of different Android devices available.
The simple truth is that the app is demanding and requires a fast processor and enough RAM to run properly.
If you have a substandard device (whether Apple or Android), you will be disappointed.
The app works equally well on a good tablet of either flavour.

on the side of the box the mavic comes in, it says, made for iphones

Don't get confused by marketing spin.
That doesn't mean it's made especially or exclusively for iphones.
It just means that it works on iphones

I'm not saying it wont work, its just more likely to have problems using android.

The real situation is that you are more likely to have problems using a substandard tablet whether it's Android or Apple.
There are Android devices that run the app at least as well as any Apple device.

I am just telling my experience so far, and what a DJI support rep told me, I wouldn't call a samsung S8. a substandard phone, or ignore hundreds of android users complaints.
I can see u are someone that has to always be right, so no point going on with this conversation.

And your experience so far involves testing how many Android devices?
Yours would probably work just fine if configured properly.
Unfortunately some DJI support reps aren't reliable sources of information.
That you heard X, Y or Z from them means nothing at all.
Despite what you think you've heard there are Android devices that run the DJI Go 4 app perfectly.
The problem is not that Android doesn't run it properly, but substandard devices and poorly configured devices don't run it properly.

Well based on MY very scientific and representative experience with flying DJI over the years exclusively with Android devices I can say I’ve never had a single issue, including with a S8.

It's just the interaction of the app and the tablet/phone.

Yes a Zoom. To be honest it doesn’t really matter what the craft is, it’s the app that counts. Anyway I’ve used both my Note 8 and as an experiment I’ve also used my sons Chinese Xiaomi Mi phone as well and it worked perfectly. That was only on one flight though.

I will be picking up my replacement mavic 2 tomorrow, and I hope your right, and all works well this time around, because no way I'm getting a iphone.

yea, I have the zoom as well, tomorrow hopefully, and I'm sick of reading and watching videos about them, I just want to fly the dam thing.

I've seen many, many forum posts from people that don't know the facts, perpetuating the myth that Android is a problem and Apple is great.
I've been flying heavily for four years on Android tablets without a problem so I know that it's a myth.

and talking to DJI technical support and his supervisor, who both told me there drones work better with iphones, these are the guys who should know about these things,

Yes, they SHOULD know plenty that some of them have no idea about.
Most don't even fly themselves and are not reliable. if you are wanting factual information.

yes, did all that, I spent half a day stuffing around with my phone , just to find out there was a problem with the actual drone.

I even used my Blackberry Priv cellphone with the Zoom. It is a full android device. I had no problems although I decided I wanted a larger screen and a screen that was better in bright sunlight.
