Nexus 7 (2nd Gen) connection problem

My Google Nexus 7 won't connect to my Mav Pro controller. I have seen this discussed, but have not seen an actual solution. ( I tried the debugging in developer mode and various steps of connection. I also tried both controller ports) Has this problem been solved?

I've been playing with the 2012 version of the Nexus 7 and I can get it to connect, but the video feedback doesnt work very well.
I was playing with a custom rom, but other than that, I didn't have to change anything.
What version of Android are you running ?
