I live in a military town with lots of both military and civilian airports along with Navy outlying fields. As you can see from the attached image, there aren't that many places nearby where one can fly a DJI drone.
When I first fired up the MP2 out back, I fully expected to see the "CANNOT TAKEOFF" message but to my surprise, no such message.
I spent about fifteen years as an instructor for aspiring Naval Aviators so I know the area and the ops. I waited for the pattern to clear at the nearby outlying field and then did some low-level flying around the house.
The next day, same thing but on day three, I got the Fly Safe database or whatever DJI calls it notice and did the update. After that, "CANNOT TAKEOFF" returned.
A couple days later, I took her out back just to get some stills to compare while the drone was on an outdoor table. I didn't even mount the iPad and controller to the MM. But to my utter surprise, no more "CANNOT TAKEOFF."
I know this particular field is never used on the weekends but AirMap still showed it red so I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this and I'm wondering if DJI's NFZ database actually includes days/hours of operation while AirMap clearly does not. Anyone know?
If it stops raining, I'll go out back and check again today when I know that particular OLF is open for business, (even though the rain will probably keep the bounce pattern flights on the ground,) and see if the message returns.
Just wondered if anyone else is in a similar situation and has seen a NFZ come and go.
