against the law to fly at night

Not in the USA, if you don't have a commercial drone license. It's a strange quirk in the law, that I am sure will be changed. Commercial drone users can only fly 1/2 hour before dawn and after dusk WITH permission from the FAA. If you look at the FAA guidelines for recreational users, there is no mention about flying at night, dawn, or dusk.

This was accomplished with a 100 ISO setting, Raw format, 2 sec exposure, while flying forward.
 
It would be interesting to see a Mavic try this. I tried to replicate it tonight but my results were much different. Maybe the cars were not going fast enough.

That picture actually was with a Mavic. I don't have the original file with me right now or anything, but I think the cars were going somewhere around 40 miles per hour, give or take a little.
