Just for reference: the original Mavic pro and the Mavic 2 series controllers have a full size USB port on the bottom between the two clamshell hand grips. This outputs live video feed, but only when the micro port on the left shoulder hasn't got a cable plugged into it. Handy to know if you suspect the feed cable or side connection is on the Fritz.

You can also use this full size USB port to rig the controller with an external battery (to extend the battery life of the controller).

Plug a USB - microUSB/USB C/lightning cable into the bottom port: plug the other end into the flight screen device.

Boot the drone and controller, let it connect with the flight app... now connect a power bank to the microUSB port on the left shoulder of the controller.

Take a look at the telemetry screen built into the controller: you will see that the battery power icon is cycling - the power bank is charging the internal battery while you are flying.

Side port failure is a common issue, sadly you cant replace the socket on its own, you have to replace the board

Excellent reply Felix. some time ago I had a problem when I was using my Samsung 10 1/2" tablet plugged into the USB in front of the controller, and got nothing! Like you said, unplug the 'other' input on the side that goes to the phone. Works great now.
