Hi,

I have had my Mavic Pro Platinum for just over a month now (bought 16/11/19). Only had it out 4 times due to the weather.

Had a quick flight yesterday in my back garden to check some camera settings before going out today.

Fully charged the 3 batteries and Remote control to 100%, and then left my house and walked to my flying area about 10 minutes away.

The drone and controller were packed in a Smatree Case that has the cut-out for each component to prevent damage.

When i arrived at the flying area, I unpacked everything and setup the drone.

The Mavic Controller power light came on when pressed and bleeped, but nothing was on the display! (screen was backlit, but no LCD display showed nothing)

I connected my ipad mini, everything was working including the Controller functions - just no info displayed on the screen.

I decided to try a flight and everything worked as normal, except for the Controller Display Screen- remained blank despite several power downs and ups.

When i returned home i tried the controller again, but same issue occurred with no LCD display. I switched the controller back off and put it on charge again - screen again was backlit, but no LCD output showing charging state.

Any ideas?

I bought the Drone from Drones Direct (uk), tried calling them but they are now closed for the New Year. Should I be able to insist on a new controller? (don’t fancy a repaired one when it’s only been used 4 times!)

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear of your problems ... It's definitely not right and due to the lack of any abuse, you should be able to get a warranty repair or replacement. Drones Direct have a well documented after-sales support ( Drones Direct After You've Ordered | Drones Direct ) and I don't think you'll have any problems getting a replacement.
In the time that I've been involved with this and other Mavic forums, I've never heard of this particular fault before. It could be a connector popped off the display module in the controller - but it's not a unit that's easy to get into or around - so I'd strongly suggest using the time it takes to ship you a replacement, to school up on YouTube vid's about how to fly the Pro Plat' ... It's a nice drone and once you have this issue sorted, should give you years of fun ...

I have an MPP and never come across this problem. ALSo had quite a few dealing with Drones Direct and have found them very helpful on every occasion. On one occasion got four new drones from them after a series of mishaps and only had to return two!! They were very much toy drones!

Spoke to Drones Direct today, then had to phone DJI as it is a warranty issue. Need to send the Controller to Holland to be repaired - not happy! Only bought it 6 weeks ago, flew it 4 times!

That's a bore and though no lawyer does not sound right. The obligation is with Drones Direct who sold it to you not DJI. Not very helpful but sounds like you are being palmed off. If you bought it online you could, as you probably know, send it it back within 30days for a full refund.
