I have a DJI Mavic Pro and it makes a lot of excessive noise when I go backwards. I’m not sure if it’s the propellers or the motors. It makes a huge noise and it’s not going full speed. But that is only when I’m going backwards. If I go left or right or forwards, it’s fine. I’m confused. Thanks.

Is the volume the same regardless of direction i.e. backing toward/away or sideways to your relative position?

That's a strange one. I will listen more intently to mine this evening but I have not noticed a different noise volume while backing. Are your props undamaged?

The Mavic was designed to fly forwards, but can also fly backwards. It is more aerodynamic going forwards, thus more speed, less drag, and less noise.

I flew mine tonight and noticed no big difference in noise when going forwards and backwards.

I noticed that too, and found that there were scratch marks on the drone where a prop had been glancing off it. There was a slight warp to that one prop. Replacing it solved the issue.
