Very nice! Where did you takeoff from? I'm a new pilot from Redwood City trying to learn what is ok to do and what is a no no.

I love that time of morning around Oakland. I've got some footage flying around the Tribune Building area around that time, having flown from a random sidewalk (adjacent to a non-residential building), with Firehouse Arc XL strobe flashing.

I am also a new pilot from Sonoma County and pretty confused about where to fly legally. Is flying in Oakland legal? I like the shots.

Yes, there are great places to fly around Oakland. Lake Merritt has excellent spots from which to fly. My Tribune Building shots were flown from adjacent streets in the morning hours. Any other time would have way too much foot and vehicular traffic.

Consult the Kittyhawk app, and you find quite a few places to fly in Sonoma and Napa. Find some locals in this Local & Regional section, as a few are willing to get together and fly, too.
