Obstacle Avoidance Disabled problem Mavic Pro 2

Was attempting a shot flying the drone (carefully) a few inches under tree branches. Was unable to get the shot. The drone kept dipping down to avoid the nearby branches. I had unchecked "Enable Visual Obstacle Avoidance" and also, in advanced settings, I had unchecked "RTH Obstacle Check." Is there something I'm not doing or is this kind of risky flying just not possible with the Mavic Pro 2?

This happened to me as well. The drone is for sure generating a strong air flow downwards (as you may notice flying low over a hard surface, it gest a upwards reaction).
Might it be that, flying too close under a branch, it also generates some airflow upwards, that is pushing the drone down?
If I'm not wrong the MP2 does not have proximity sensors above, right? My MP1 does not, so I do not see a possible action related with sensors. IMHO, of course.

My M2P has an IR sensor on top and certainly is aware of obstacles overhead, up to 8 meters. I assume sport mode turns all sensors off, but I don't have experience doing that because I just got mine and I'm not ready to take of the training wheels yet.

I didn’t think of the sports mode because I assume that tuns off all my “softening” adjustments. But I’ll give that a try. Thanks. Will let you all know

Testing sports mode now as a solution to my issue. Looking like it may work. Responding to something else you said about flying low. I have a frustration there as well. Can’t fly any lower than about 2 feet. I don’t think it’s downward air flow. Below 2 ft the drone just decides it’s in landing mode. Maybe there’s something I can turn off there as well

If the overhead IR obstacle avoidance is triggered, it will say so in the app and on the RC. If you aren't getting any such alert, OA wasn't the problem.

UPDATE: Sports Mode solves it for me, with Obstacle Avoidance turned off. fyi, quick test video shot at 120fps

Turn off Landing Protection if you have that setting.

Turning on sport mode to disable all the sensors to squeeze the Mavic into a tight spot, yeah don't see anything going wrong there. ?

You're likely not turning off all the sensors as dawgpilot pointed out.

You're likely not turning off all the sensors as dawgpilot pointed out.

That does the trick. Thanks. Opens up that 1st 2 ft. Just have to be careful with landing.
