Obstacle avoidance false reading??

In my RC settings there was a red "error" next to vision sensor. I installed the DJI Assistant and went through the calibration. Removed the error. I just took the Mavic out for a flight and several times while going forward it beeped like crazy and said obstacle something. I brought it down to where I could see it and pushed forward...it would be going and stop in its tracks and beep. Nothing in front of it, open sky.

Any idea?

If this happens again, you can turn off obstacle avoidance mid-flight. You should then be able to continue forward.

Yes. If you're not convinced, try yawing away from the sun the next time this happens. If you can move forward at that point, then the sun is causing the problem.

Thanks! These are good issues to be made aware of. I am sure there are more I'll stumble across. Thanks!

I had the exact same situation occur this past week while flying, and of course, I was flying directly toward the sun, and my gimble was horizontal to the ground. I am glad I came across this post, I thought I there was something wrong with my Mavic Pro.
Thank you for posting!

Just so you know, it doesn't matter where your gimbal was facing. The vision sensors for OA are separate to the recording camera.

What might be the cause of this problem when there is no sun. I was flying with plenty of ambient light, but no direct sunlight. It was about 7:30 p.m. in September, San Francisco California. I've had it happen before where the obstacle avoidance seems to be going haywire. It simply won't let me fly forward.

Sun or reflected sun can cause it.

i see it all the time flying in any direction over a beach at low tide with lots of pools of water around.

If its an issue during flight just map one of the C buttons to sensors off. Then is a quick tap to enable/disable so it wont mess up your flying.

Good idea, mapping the c button.

Many a mavic never came home because of this problem!!! If you fly high turn it off you fly faster and I ALWAYS TURN OFF RTH OA!!! if it's real sunny too that's the one that gets ya!!! the drone thinks it going to hit something so it stops climbs tries to fly forwards stops climbs repeat until it force lands gods knows where.
