I flew my Mavic for the first time yesterday at 300ft and it would constantly stop saying that there was an obstacle in front of it, but at 300ft up it was clear skies.

When i returned home i noticed that the clear protective stickers were still on the front facing cameras. Could these have caused the issue?

Yes

You can easily confirm this by removing them and do a short low level test flight

Even without the stickers present you may find that this can occur. It's a problem that a few have mentioned here and one that I have experienced also. As others have said, it happens when flying into the sun. For me it is usually when the sun is setting that I run into this problem. I usually just rotate a little and continue without incident. Hopefully this can be resolved with a firmware update if they are aware of this problem.

Yes, in fact, that is the only time this has occurred. Flying any other time directly into the sun doesn't seem to cause this problem. At least for me, it hasn't.

Had the same problem today. No stickers on. Flew about 600ft with the sun in the back, then turned round against the sun and it didn´t let me move forward. Not even the "Back to Home" button helped. I turned the Mavic and flew backwards. Could it be that the direct sun is overriding the collission avoidance?

Can you not just turn off obstacle avoidance while flying or do you have to so before take off also does it come on while using RTH?
