La Palma volcano: Drone used to rescue dogs cut off by eruption

A 50kg drone will try and catch the dogs with a remote-controlled net and then fly them to safety.

Read that yesterday. I don't see how it's going to work, especially the dogs under the vine canopies. Probably worth trying, but I can see the news a week later, dogs tangled in nets can't reach food dropped to them.

Maybe they already are dropping food and water - but wouldn't getting these to the poor mutts be more important than further scare tactics shooting nets at them? The darn things are clearly starving.

They are indeed getting food and water to these dogs by drone so they aren't starving. The breed of the dogs is Podenco Canario and they are very slender as can be seen in all the photographs HERE. They are used for hunting rabbits.

It seems the dogs had already been rescued by people who ignored the exclusion zone.
