Just ordered my first done this week.

You'll love flying your new drone! Early mornings are best - it'll be over 100 deg F each day for the foreseeable future. Also, the high country is much cooler and offers some nice scenery - if not on fire! Avoid fire areas at all cost...
Most Phoenix parks are off limits (for take offs and landings) except a specific few.

Thanks iaincaradoc, that’s good to know. I was trying to do some research in Chandler, but looks like it is covered mostly by the chandler airport radius. I did see Thude park as one spot that is close to me.

In a significant portion of the greenbelt parks, you'll still have to file LAANC to fly - the Sky Harbor flight paths give me a 300' ceiling at my house, and 100' just a bit farther south of me.

But the Scottsdale cops and Parks and Rec won't hassle you.

Welcome. This place is a wealth of knowledege, which you probably know since you posted here. I’m new to mavics. Had a phantom 3 and upgraded to a mavic pro 1. All I can say is big difference. Make sure you YouTube a few videos on set up and first flight. Enjoy the drone.

In Queen Creek. Just received a Mavic Air two weeks ago after spending a couple months practicing with a cheap drone. What a difference. I'd be interested s in where you end up flying the most.

I found a park near me (off the 101 and Chandler blvd) that allows rc flying, so i think that is where i will be getting my feet wet initially. You have a place you typically go?
