Oversharpened images/footage

Im finding that most of my footage is looking highly oversharpened and not especially "filmic". Im editing in Premiere Pro. What do you guys do to lose some of these sharpening artefacts introduced by the onboard software?

Could it be your shutter speed? High shutter speeds freeze the action and don't allow the motion blur expected in cinematic footage.

You could apply just a touch of gaussian blur to soften things a bit. If you are willing to move over to After Effects you get more choices in blurs like smart blur. The opposite of sharpening is blurring so you are looking for the right blur that fits your taste. If you really want to get into it you could use a find edge effect and create a mask from it to only apply blur on the edges.

You could also invest in a mist filter for the drone which would take some bite out of the image and give more of a film look.

Yeah. I was looking at a mist filter. There's an excellent video on Youtube from a guy that essentially makes his own using hairspray mist. Acually looks better than the "real" ones. I might try your AE idea .

Btw TBDG- I only shoot using the fps rule - it's the over sharpening in camera. Not the fps.

Yea pretty much anything in front of the lens finely and evenly dispersed will work. Traditionally cinematographers would use thin stocking material to do the same thing.
