PAIRING RC231 TO MINI 2

Just got a new RC231 and can't pair it to my Mini 2. I put them both in pair mode but it just counts down to zero and doesnt pair. If I try connecting via wifi it then won't switch to fly mode.
Can anyone help?

Is the RC231 the Mavic Air 2 controller? If so, it needs a firmware update to pair with the Mini 2.

Yes, it is the Air 2 one. At the risk of sounding stupid, how do I update the firmware?
