Help! Mini 2 Won't Pair with Smart Controller (even with firmware updates)

hey all, I can't find a solution to this problem anywhere. I have a mini 2 and a smart controller, both of which are fully updated. I bought a mini 2, and I can pair it fine with the RCN1 and bind/unbind to my account, but it refuses to pair with the smart controller. The pairing attempt just times out every time I try.

Any help is appreciated!

My Mini2 and smart controllers pairs just fine with:

Smart controller V01.01.0076
Mini2 01.07.0200

Take out the SD card and try again.
