I've had my Mavic Pro for a couple of weeks now and one thing that I battle with is seeing what is on my phone. I have an Android Moto X4 and the screen is a bit dark in sunlight. Also the text/icon size is a bit small and the remote grips tends to cover the the phone controls... all making it a bit of a challenge for thick fingers. I know I can get a hoodie, but I'm trying to avoid that.
I'm thinking of getting a tablet, I hear iPads are good ;)
I'm thinking an iPad mini 4... is it worth it or will I be disappointed?

From what I have read online and here I think that the iPad 4 mini is one of the more popular options and a lot of very happy flyers reporting that it ticks a lot of boxes. The only problem you are going to find is the brightness of screens in strong sunlight, so you might want to consider getting a screen hood to go along with your iPad 4 mini to address that particular issue.

If you didn't mind spending a bit more cash you should look at DJI's very own Crystal Sky monitors as they are very very good in strong sunlight.

Just my 2 cents worth, I am sure a few other more informed pilots will chime in

Ask your self how are you going to fly? visual line of sight? Or you want to go more immersed? MY progression was Galaxy NOte 5 -> ipad, -> DJI google.
I am old so for me the bigger the better and opted for ipad 6th gen. relatively inexpensive at $260-290, it doubles as a nice tablet for other things...reading, movie watching on flights.
If you go that route you will need a holder that is rated for 9.6-inch screen.
As of late I just bring two small hunting chairs (2 feet tall), it opens like and X canvas on the top, one is for the ipad, this way it is not on the top of the remote controller.
You could say I am lazy, but if I am flying 2-3 batteries I am out there for an hour.
When I fly with the googles, I still use the ipad or the phone to do the initial system check before liftoff.
