I'm practicing taking photos and have noticed how the photo gets brighter as I tilt the camera towards the ground.

In both cases I'm looking in the same direction , taking a photo of the surrounding area in the distance then one towards the ground.

Would you please explain why. Thank you

Rick

You can use the exposure bracketing option to get the brightness / exposure evened out on pictures like the first one in your post but you rely have to shoot in RAW for this to work properly.

Would you please explain why.
Your camera's metering is trying to select an exposure setting that will give you a properly exposed image.
In the first photo, you've set a difficult task for the metering because you half of the image a bright, well-lit sky and the other half is much darker.
In the second image the whole image of about the same brightness so the whole image is more uniform.

But there is a problem.
That second shot appears washed out. It's overexposed.
And in the first shot you would expect the camera trying to give you an average between the bright sky and dark foreground would give you an underexposed foreground and an overexposed sky.
But you have a properly exposed foreground and overexposed sky.
It looks like your exposure compensation has been set to overexpose by perhaps one stop?
