Photos taken in 2x-6x show on camera screen but don't save to SD card

Just got M2Z 4 days ago. When I try to zoom in on subject, the camera screen shows the zoomed image, but the saved photo on SD card is not. Is there a trick here or a malfunction??

Was this is a malfunction? I'm close to buying the M2Z but I need photo mode with zoom.
