Plato Academy is an area in the northwestern part of the city of Athens. The area owes its name to the hero Akadimos, and the philosophical school, Akadimia, founded by Plato in 387 BC.
The place was considered sacred, because according to the legend Theseus had hidden Eleni there and out of respect for his long tradition and identification with the Dioscuri, the Spartans did not destroy him when they invaded in 413 BC. in Attica.
