Hi everyone,

I've been practicing with my mavic pro, and found that I enjoy using the point of interest flight mode. My neighbor is building a new house and asked me if she could take aerial video of the process once per week. Here are my questions

1). Is there a way of marking the POI (in this case, the construction of the new house), and saving it, so I can command the mavic the perform the exact same "flight path" every time? Basically, I would like to set the POI parameters once, so each time I'm up in the air, I can command it to autonomously perform the exact same POI flight.

2) is there a way of setting the POI by tapping the subject on the screen, rather than having to fly directly above it, and setting it that way?

This is a mavic pro using an iPhone X

Thanks!!!

#1... Not with the Go App
#2...Not with the MP but you can with the M2P.

I have done exactly what you describe, using Litchi and the waypoints function. You can pre-program (and even pre-fly) an exact route, select points of interest, gimbal angles, flight speeds, etc. Then you just upload the mission and press "play". Same path, every time. For me, that feature alone was worth the $20 for the app.

Go 4 has waypoint function as well, now even for M2 (though OP specified MP). I believe you can even save the waypoint. At least you could with P3.

Can you set the house as a waypoint, the fly with hover at end of mission, followed by your poi? Of course, that only helps you get the same center each time. You would still have to set the radius, gimble direction and speed.

With the new Waypoints update you can simply set up a 'mission' and save it. Then pull it up every week and fly the mission.

You probably would create waypoints around or outside the perimeter of the property. After all, it wouldn't work too well for the AC to fly right where the house is, at least not once the walls and roof are up. [emoji16] The POI would lock on what the camera focuses on as it flies.

I suppose POI mode could be used, but you can't save the settings like you can with waypoints, and your flight would be circular. Also with waypoints, you can plan for and avoid obstacles.

I had hoped waypoints would have been available before Christmas so I could plan the flight to take pics of Christmas lights during the day, then let it fly at night.
