Question about map handling when out of cell range

This question pertains to all of the navigation/control apps - dji go, autopilot, litchi, etc. When I will be out of cell range how do these apps handle the maps? Is there some way to download ahead of time into a cache?

The short answer to your question is yes, you can cache maps to your device. With that said, I have found that this depends on the version of the app and the device that you are connecting your drone to.
