Question about serial numbers

I just purchased a drone privately and was wondering about the difference in serial numbers such as 08QC and 08QD
Mine is a “C” but the manufacturer date it September of 2018. It just seems weird that they’d go backwards in letters as the go forward in date.
The drone is brand new and I broke the seal as well as compared to unboxing vids for new opening.
Just want to make sure I’m not missing something as well as learn what the difference in letters mean.

Thanks for that. It helps some but I’m more wondering the difference in the 4th letter as that isn’t specified anywhere

There have been several threads on the forum about the serial numbers and the question of that character has come up numerous times. I have yet to see a definitive answer.

Some have speculated that they represent the area the Mavic was sold in (i.e., US, Europe, etc.), but that hasn't always been correct. In addition to the 'C' and 'D', there's also an 'E' in that spot, and maybe others.
