Quick question ?

The first thing I always do before flight is to use the drone to tell me what is the height of tree or any object next to where the home point is.
Fly the drone straight up and see if you can see clearly about any tree or object in a 360 degree turn.
Then check your settings and adjust.
Flying from my house it is set to 100 feet.
None of my trees are at that height.

Where I have been able to fly so far, I have buildings, monuments etc within my vlos of about 150 ft in height or so, so therefore I set my RTH at 200 ft to be on the safe side.

It is not something that is fixed, it varies with the flight.
So, as in post #2 ,enough to clear the highest obstacle in the RTH flight path.
NOTE it can be changed whilst the drone is in flight, I have done that, but it CAN NOT be changed whilst an actual RTH is in progress, I have tried that and it failed.....repeatedly.
If, during a flight, you encounter or see an obstacle that is in the potential RTH flight path and that obstacle is higher than the current RTH height then use the drone to measure the obstacle's height and set the new RTH height to 30 or so feet above that.
I would also suggest that setting an excessively high RTH height is both wasteful of power (in both the climb and the descent) and potentially dangerous. Wind speed generally increase with height so a excessive RTH height can take the drone up into troublesome winds. i.e. do not set a coverall RTH height of 400ft.

Ok great thanks for that information

@Photoman phil ,as other have said you set it according to where you are flying
i have mine set at 40m which i know will clear the trees where i tend to fly the most ,so you can use that as a start point and adjust accordingly

This will sound unusual to some of you. When flying in certain areas I fly at 200’ even though the trees are around 100’. This puts me ASR (above shotgun range). ?
