I saw this article on an online news feed. Has anyone else seen this, or aware of it? Is it fake news?

Are you asking if a Ramp-Check is a real thing? If so then YES but much harder to do because we aren't flying from an airport where the "Ramp" is.

But many operators have had someone from the FSDO stop by a job site to observe and occasionally make "recommendations".

Currently those mentioned "logs" are not required of Part 107 operations (they were for Section 333 Exemption Holders) but they are a VERY good idea IMHO.

It sounded like they would show up at a site to check on the drone operator. It just seemed like a lot of stuff to have on your person. I don't carry flight logs. I don't know if logs are required to be carried by hobbyists.

Unless something changes in the FARs logs will not be required by a recreational flyer or a Part 107 Operation.

Are they a good idea? Absolutely without a doubt.
