RC 2 Pro won't record audio when Air 3S is connected

Hello all. I have a Mini 5 Pro and an Air 3S, both controlled by the RC 2 Pro controller (not at the same time, though).

The manual for the controller says it can record audio while shooting video by simply turning it on the in the camera settings.

When I'm connected to the Mini 5, the toggle to turn on/off recording is there and works fine. However when the 3s is connected, the toggle for audio recording is not there and, of course, no audio is recorded when shooting a video with the 3s.

This doesn't make sense to me. If the controller is the one doing the recording, what difference should it make what aircraft is connected? Plus, the manual makes no mention of working with only certain drone models.

Am I missing something? Is there a setting somewhere in the Air 3s that I don't know about?

Thanks.

I believe the audio recording on the Mini 5 Pro is actually recorded onto the video recording inside the drone, to either the internal microSD card or internal memory, rather than onto the RC Pro 2 itself. Hence the difference in available features when choosing the Air 3S, which does not support recording audio to the video file in the drone.

RC Pro 2 was specifically designed for the Mavic 4 Pro. Support for the Mini 5 Pro and Air 3S was only added later, which explains why the RC Pro 2 manual has not been properly updated to distinguish between models. However, if the audio toggle is missing, it is clearly an unsupported feature on that drone.

Whether it was the latest update but I can confirm a screen recording with sound was possible with my RC2
Pro controller and my DJI Air 3S . The drone was not on at the time of recording. The toggle switch I set to record audioio

There is no RC2 Pro. There is only and RC 2 and an RC Pro 2. The embedded audio capability is drone specific, and fully supported on the RC 2 and the RC Pro 2, if you are flying an audio recording capable drone, where the audio is then embedded into the recorded video on the drone. Supported drones are the Mavic 4 Pro, and Mini 5 Pro. Theoretically, DJI could have also added that capability to the Air 3S, but not without the toggle appearing to turn it on. Which controller were you actually using?

nomenclature is paramount with a plethora of DJI controllers. I did a screen capture with sound using the latest DJI controller with the large folding screen that turns on when you lift the screen.

Screen capture with sound on the RC Pro 2 is completely different than embedding sound into the drone video on the drone while filming video. The latter is limited to the drones that support it.

I never knew you could record sound on the drone itself. It would of course just be the sound from the controllers position. Presumably it is transmitted from the controller to the drone. Neat.
