Hi All,

Just received my latest mavic and noticed where the rear arms attach the left side has a bit more of a gap vs. The right... it's only small, looks like this example I found with a quick google search

... I'm talking about the visible black ring between the craft and arm...

Now it's very likely not by design but given I found another with an identical offset quickly online I wanted to sanity check if others have a similar example and/or if I should have any concern?

The arm doesn't have any more lateral movement than the other side, maybe just something to monitor? What do you think?

Thanks!

I just checked my Mavic and I have the exact same "offset" you are speaking of and posted an image of. I'd say it's a design element and not a flaw, unless a whole production line of Mavics were erroneously made with this "imperfection" and you and I just happen to have units from that same line of imperfect units - as well as the one you saw online - which I'd say is stretching what is plausible.

Engineers have to do what they have to do to make their creations work. Perhaps that offset stops the rear props from touching or serves some other purpose. I'd say not to worry about it unless you hear a lot of comments to the contrary, which I, too, will be keeping an eye out for. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I never noticed the rear leg difference until you pointed it out.

Seems like half of my Mav inventory have left offset others half right. I think as the arm gets seated its going to separate a little bit, normal wear and tear. Just keep checking that the hex screw on the outside of the arm is tight and you should be ok. It also has 2 screws inside that will prevent the arm from coming off.

Here are the 2 screws on each side that hold the arm on. One screw on each side is obstructed by the black paste that hold the wires inplace. Its really a marvel of engineering the way the arm unit pops off after the 2 screws are removed. It's as solid as a rock when it's on there, but so easy to remove. I can see over time that there's going to be a little play in the arm, but maybe not until after 500 flights.

I am really happy with the build quality of the Mav. Easy to take apart with patience, alot easier than the P3's. Great materials.

I GOT MY MAVIC TO WEEKS AGO AND THAT ARM THAT YOU TALKING ABOUT BROKED..... I've noticed the same thing before and thought it was fine "but weird" today it got loose and now that arm it's kinda hanging...

I notice this same "black ring" on mine when I got it two weeks ago. I feel better now since it seems that it is normal. I notice that I can push the arm with the gap in further and close the gap a little. But it pops out again when I relieve the pressure.

Thats by design.

Pictures?

The engine works but the macanism that keeps it in place when you fold it broke. It was the arm that I noticed the small gap compared to the other one

Does the rear screw hold the arm in? Perhaps that got lose?

I did have a previous copy of the Mavic that seemed to have equal arms that were more closely seated to the body and there are shots online of others that are too so I am not 100% convinced its by design... but a lot do have the offset.

i mostly have to replace the whole arm. I hope it's a big task... I've been watching videos and it looks like I have to take the top part off and then I can reach the arm. If you have anything that can help me do that I'll appreciated. I just bought the arm for $70 on eBay

Mine is the same, I was wondering the same thing when i looked at it, That little black piece pokes out.
