Anybody attempt to refurb their dead battery packs? It would be nice if there were compatible LiPo batteries that could be used to swap with the old one.
I like a good challenge. It can be done, but returning a 3s back into the intelligent battery case is like opening Pandoras box.
I like a good challenge.Would just need to find a decent battery.
BTW, I thought that they were 4s batteries. They apparently are:

You should be able to find equivalent batteries on one of the several Chinese websites; Wish.com, aiexpress.com and others.I like a good challenge.Would just need to find a decent battery.

So are you suggesting that the OEM smart boards will self terminate if they see too large a delta in voltage when the pack is initially swapped out? Or is it looking for anomalies after they've been swapped and are either being charged or used?Reusing the smart board on a new set of 3S lipos (out of another Mavic battery matching capacity is ALMOST possible. Here on the forum someone had the best results with the aftermarket batteries. The smart board is far less sensitive and isn’t looking for the slightest voltage change to brick itself. The OEM batteries I just learned the hard way.... brick too easy.
Way beyond my abilities. So I am debating on whether to just make an balanced XT60 pack pack out of my brick or be patient and wait for one of you really smart and talented young bucks to stumble across a universal remedy lol...
For something like a drone, I can't say that I could blame them. If somebody tries this and borks it up, DJI stands a good change of having their reputation hurt depending on what happens on failure. It's a shame they make it difficult (and I'd guess intentionally) to simply replace the cells and rejuvenate an old pack. I've done this with power tools etc for a few years but with DJI they want to have total control over every aspect of the package. Sounds a lot like my Apple products.
Yes, any type of up or down voltage outside of a seemingly specific window causes issues. I believe I have seen on the forum someone being able to unattach one and put other cells on it. But because of the capacity it is looking for to operate and generate usable readings it’s hard to match or change what the board has been programmed to look for. So it has to be hacked into and I do t know that it’s been done. Thought I saw something about it’s firmwa but how to get into any of that, I haven’t found or received that answer. So are you suggesting that the OEM smart boards will self terminate if they see too large a delta in voltage when the pack is initially swapped out?
