That chain in that position stops the clamp from fitting properly to the camera though

Agreed. The gimbal lock doesn't look like its installed correctly...

Haven't had a problem removing the gimbal clamp since putting these on my Mavic.

The lock is fully seated.

I took a cue from another poster and used fishing line to attach mine to a 1/16 drilled hole. Works fine

I found it best to use a long string to attach. I used the draw string from the included spare propeller pouch.

Just noticed... your camera isnt lined up with your gimbal clamp right but u seemed to pushed the clamp down anyway thus pushing your camera out at an awkward angle.. make sure those tabs line up with the corresponding slots on the rear of the camera. GL (edit: looks like u forgot to make a hole in it but instead thought it would be a good idea to use the camera mounting tab as a lanyard loop, eek)

No, it's behind the gimbal. The slot in the center of the clamp is designed to surround the back plate of the gimbal itself. The gimbal definitely lays flat and aims the camera directly forward and level.

I just took some red acrylic paint and painted the gimbal lock. It's so bright I can't miss it now. Simple solution.

James switched to a fishing string instead of admitting he was wrong... whatever works but the pics clearly show your camera was not 'locked' in properly. Its at a 45 degree angle when it should be at a 90 . Ego's crack me up

While I like the idea of the "Remove Before Flight" tag on the gimbal clamp as I too have forgotten to remove it before turning it on, I wanted a more "scale" looking tag for my Mavic. That said, I found a full size image online and downsized it to 5% and 7% of it's original size. Laminating it with a stiff lamination card proved to be the final touch. I've included both images so you can download them if you want. I can upload pictures once I get it attached. Hope this helps!
