Saved waypoint hyperlapse mission: getting to the first waypoint

If I want to run a saved waypoint hyperlapse mission and take off from a different home point, how does the AC get to the first waypoint? If it goes in a straight line, it might hit a power line or pole. Should I just get as close as possible to the first waypoint (past all potential obstacles) before running the mission?

Can’t you just keep on eye on it? Or fly manually close to the 1st point?...
