Hi I saw this on Youtube. You who are the "experts" do we have to worry?

Yeah ... issues like this leads to that you have to go with a much more cautious thinking already when it comes to flying shorter distances from the RC.

If it happens the failsafe action will kick in ... usually that will be RTH, & this is something that you expect if flying over long distances or can't have a full 100% LOS, RTH can be expected and you see to that the sky above is free for the ascending.

It's another thing with close flying under obstacles with you perhaps following the AC with your RC (walking away from the recorded HP) ... you don't expect a disconnect that ends with a full RTH ascend up in the trees above when so close to the AC.

Post like this is the reason why you wait to do the updates.

I would say that this is the reason you don't invest in a complete new AC model as soon as it's released ... it's always deceases that needs to be solved in the beginning, unfortunately with the help of all early adopters.

Slup, du you mean that its more "dangerous" to fly close to the AC? How comes?

It's due to how you act & what you think you can expect ... if close to the AC you don't expect a disconnect, you might go under obstacles with the firm belief that you will not risk going into failsafe.

But then it happens, you loose connection due to this bug & the AC shoots up straight into the obstacles from beneath ... this is very much the same phenomenon when it comes to low battery RTH, that have also surprised pilots that was thinking ... "-I still have some battery percentage left, I'm close so I fly a bit more & land it later". In the low battery RTH case you at least have the possibility to stop it as you're connected ... But with this threads bug you're without connection & can only watch your AC being trashed in the trees.

I did have an issue with a blank screen once last year at a park. It was within VLOS maybe 300ft away and I simply brought it back and landed manually. It hasn't happened since and it did make me wonder wtf. Mavic min (not the 2) and ipad mini 5.

Understanding the RTH scenarios is a must, whilst your just flying around at height then you'll probably not have a problem, if you set RTH at 30m high and your flying at 50m high it won't reduce height, it will fly back at 50m.

If your flying though a hollow between trees and your RTH is set at 30m it's likely to rise up and hit the trees if you lose signal, in this instance setting RTH to Hover would mean it just stops, giving you time to get closer or restart the Fly app to reconnect and take action.

Just a couple of scenarios, RTH think ! then set it up bearing in mind what would be the action of the Mini 2 if it lost signal.

If your walking and the drone is near you as you walk, Remember to reset the home point as you go, or it will fly back to where you took off [emoji26]

The more capable M2P has a sensor on the top that prevents it rising up into stuff, but then it costs three times the price of a Mini 2.

Don't forget all the factors that can cause this, like interference, cable connections, range & phone.

I don't remember coming across reports of similar problems in this forum so I doubt if this is a widespread problem. May be the radio part of the drone / controller is faulty ? e.g. a channel / frequency band switching is initiated mid flight but for some reasons the drone / controller failed to get synchronized until some time later ?
