I am having problems knowing if I have a reliable Home Point set so have been trying to set one manually. In the app there are two options - Set Home Point as aircraft position and Set Home Point as controller position. What I want to know is that do these options actually set the Home Point or are they just configuration options ?

Is there another way of setting a Home Point manually ?
Is there a way of knowing that one has been set (I don't get the vocal confirmation - see other thread) .

Yes they will set the new home point. to 1, Where the AC is now, 2, where the controllerd DEVICE is now. The device has to have a GPS module.
In both cases, you have to have gps coverage.
You should see a H on your map screen.
If you dont get an audible conformation, is the volume turned up on your device???

Yes the volume is turned up because I get the Take Off confirmation. However I don't always get this. Yesterday I took off and it said 'Taking Off' but just now it did't say anything. Everything was in the same state as far as I know so it seems some random behaviour is happening which does not feel right.

It is useful to know about the H on the map - I had not noticed that before but it is just the sort of thing I wanted :)

EDIT: on page 12 in the manual it describes the light characteristcs of the Aircraft Status lights and makes no mention of the Home Point but further on page 56 it says that when the Aircraft Indicator blinks green it means a Home Point is recorded

I have found another anomaly.

I have gone into the Warnings list and up until a week or two ago all my flight warnings included a Home Point set with safe altitude.

All my recent flights do not include this.

Now even more mystified !

Send it back friend, get a new one..
There is no point debating stuff, here.... gets you no where and wastes preciouse time on this earth..
Send it back, get a new one, go fly....

Not sure how seriously to take your comment lol ;)

Anyway, apart from my mistake of starting two threads with slightly different questions that have morphed into two threads that have become interchangeable, I have actually learned a lot from this problem. I do not believe it has anything to do with the aircraft hardware so sending it back will do nothing. I think it is something to do with the way I am connecting my phone to the controller (maybe it is a USB C anomaly (see the other thread).

I am not on the latest firmware and have been agonising whether to update - until I read about dumldore (thanks to this forum ;)). In the short term I am going to use it to take a copy of my current firmware (no more agonising) and then when I am back from my hols I will have time to research the forum properly and find the best firmware to use (I want FCC). It will need some testing to make sure it works with the current version of the app and also my Goggles.

I know you say the forum gets me nowhere and wastes my precious time but I have to admit that I actually enjoy getting to the bottom of problems like this ;) As FalconLight said on another thread - experimenting and testing makes you have more confidence in the whole system.

Can you see the H on the map when you take off ??

One thing I always do after every FW update is to test the RTH function buy first initiating RTH from the handset and then a second flight were I turn off the RC ......

If this does not work do a factory reset and then maybe reinstall the latest FW.

Never lost a bird yet :)

Yes, I make sure I have the H even if I have to set it manually. I still think it is a cable problem but if not I will take your advice and do a factory reset. Then I will make the changes I have made again (mainly to do with softening the gimbal response but also i turned off the auto landing so I can descend the last few feet manually). After each change I will check Home Point setting is working.
